The game is pretty much as balanced as it can get without over catering to either side, the “elitist” or “casual”.

There is LFR, and random dungeons (complete with buff to make it easyer on pugs) and valor/justice gear, which give like a half assed effort you get what your looking for. Then, there you go you have decent gear, maybe not the achevements, but tell a guild you have looked up fights and have the gear to possibly do decent (insert roll here) then you will get an invite to even some “hardcore” raiding guild.

The “elitist” side is, you have LFR which at start of this patch shoulda been run as soon as possible, then right into normal mode (part of why the big bans went out cus people found a bug in lfr) you cap valor every week, and you show up when it’s expected of you and if your not guna be able to make it notify someone. Yes, gear does not mean you perform well, but it pushes you to a point where your expected to do somewhat decent dps/heals/tanking.

My guild is in the middle here, were a semi-casual guild. We get into hardmodes, we do LFR every week, we don’t expect people to cap valor, but the people in the guild know they should be, the guild leader is the main tank and very social in our guild, and also WERE ALWAYS RECRUITING.

We recruit people who have decent gear, we don’t care if they have even raided before, but we expect them to know what to do, when to do it, and pull gear appropriate numbers. On our site we even link the strats we use a basis for the boss kills we will be doing.

Just based on your few experiences do not make any of this true, the game is not made up of a group of elitists, most the people on my server don’t care at all what get’s done as long as we have fun doing it. We go into ICC acheve runs and wipe, yeah we say well that was dumb ect ect but it’s usually really funny as to why we wiped so we enjoy it. And most guild leaders are not like that either, im saying this from having guild hopped….. maybe 4-5 times till I found the guild im in, and also from the pov of a ex-leader. I lead a guild, was the best dps in the raids, provided flasks for each person based on me asking them what they wanted (we didn’t have cauldren yet), was friends with most the people. Also, with how my guild merged with the one im in now, I defend each one of them, no matter my personal relationship with em. The only one left in the guild with me is my friend, and ex officer, Jeda. I defend him all the time when the officers of leader or w.e get on him about something, it isn’t often cus he is one of the strongest healers, but when they do I back him solely of the fact he was my guildy in my guild, I’ve also prob given him about 5k by now, worth of enchanting, flasks, food, ect when he needs it, just cus of that fact too. I was a leader, but I was right there and friendly with everyone.
